It was quite disappointing because I really thought that it was like the famous Chilli Pan mee in KL, unfortunately it was more like normal Pan Mee with chili sauce. There were pictures on the stalls which I am seeing alot these days. In the picture it look red and hot, but unfortunately when the plate came I was certain the picture was a generic one, maybe the best picture of pan me... :(

Sarawak Ko Lo mee is the new kid on the block, having just made its debut several years ago in lang Valley. So my take on it is that it is a liitle sweet for my taste. My high points are certainly for the way it is presented and I think taste wise it was good. But what actually makes an awesome bowl of Ko Lo mee, I have not yet discover.

This bowl of noodles was ok, but certainly lacking in presentation. The bowl on the outside was painted black and started to chip around the rim, so it looks the way it does. Noodles wise it is above average.

I did enjoy this bowl because the soup is tasty and the onion and garlic oil makes it very appetizing. However it is certainly is not the best bowl of Pork Noodles I've had. Also, this particular bowl lacks  ingredients and seems very plain. Taste wise it is good.

Opening times : Breakfast and Lunch (I think dinner too)

The stall is called Robert's Penang Char Keuy Teow, but there are numerous same named stalls around PJ so I am not too sure which is original or maybe their 'sifu' was Robert. This particular stall is one of our favorites. Dry, light coloured and lots of Chinese sausage and prawns, but always a bit of a wait to get your plate. Served on a banana leaf is a nice touch too.

Not exactly the famous Seremban style beef noodles, but this bowl does it for me when I am craving something light and tasty. Picture shown is option with beef balls only, but you can have mixed with meat and tripe. This noodle broth is made with white raddish (daikon) and lots of coriander which is my favorite too. I have yet to find similar beef noodles around Klang Valley, but maybe have not explored enough.

We've been eating at this stall for a long time. Previously the father was working here but since a few years ago the son and wife has taken over. My brother is a big fan of this stall and would only have this bowl (the large size) when we come here to eat. I feel that it tasted a whole lot better when the father was running it although everything was a little oilier (including the man himself!). But still taste wise it is great as I love the fried garlic that really gives this type of Keuy Teow T'ng it's identity. As I mentioned it is less oily so it does taste clean against the palate and you don't feel oily all over when you are done. This is Penang style Keuy Teow T'ng without intestines and blood jelly. Although I like this stall's noodles, I always feel something is missing.

Pan Mee, Hand Pull Restoran Hong Joo, PJ Old Town

Category: Pan Mee, Hand Pull

Price : RM 5.00
Size: One size
Other food at this restaurant/ coffee shop: Char Keuy Teow, Yong Tau Foo, Pan Mee,  Wan Tan Mee, Assam Laksa,
Opening times : Breakfast and Lunch
I did not really enjoy this bowl as much as I did other similar type of noodles. Firstly I found that the sauce was a little dark and heavy with sweet soy. Secondly the noodles were not very consistent as some was thicker that others and when you get a thick one it is very 'jelak' / 'chai'. On the other hand the bowl was big and ingredients was a very generous amount for the price. So maybe it is someone else's cup of tea.

Really good Penang style Char Keuy Teow which is light red (with chilli) and quite dry. I think it is great tasting but not exactly to my taste because I like dark and wet! But for it's type it is really good. Nice crunchy bean sprouts and generous amounts of egg.

Char Keuy Teow, Restoran Hock Thai SS2/103

Category: Char Keuy Teow SS2/103

Opening times : Breakfast and Lunch
Wet and dark, this Char Keuy Teow is not your standard Penang style which is light coloured and drier. Normally this plate arrives quite soggy and looks a little burnt with black bits around, but it does not lack in taste. It is quite heavy with dark soy which leaves a little bitter taste, but the bean sprouts (taugeh) is always crunchy. Really fits my taste and therefore this is quite high up in my list of best Char Keuy Teow. This stall also cooks hokkien mee in the morning!

This was the first stall I've had hand pulled Pan Mee and absolutely loved it! The serving is quite small at first glance, but because this type of noodles is very filling the serving is just nice for me. Taste wise, this stall's pan mee is very balance, light but just enough of everything.

Curry Mee, SEA Park

Category: Curry mee
Address: Jalan 21/11b, Seapark, 46300, Petaling Jaya, Selangor 46300, Malaysia (behind Maybank in Seapark)
Overall Rating: 9.5/10
Price : RM 6.00- RM 7.00
Size: Standard Large and Small (Small serving)
Other food at this restaurant/ coffee shop: braised duck with rice (teo chew style)
Opening times : Lunch and breakfast

This is my absolutely favorite Curry mee! What sets this bowl apart from the rest is the soup base that is just right in the amount of coconut and is not over boiled. Also although the soup base is quite 'lemak' it is not thick just to be thick, but has a lot of depth in it's flavor. Somehow the noodles is done just right too and never too soft. Amount of other ingredient is just right to accompany the size. Until I find a better tasting curry mee, this is my benchmark.

First Post

Ah... the awkward first post! I'm gonna save this post like a holder for later.
